Whether you're an artist, a yoga practioner or just want a wonderful place to go to and enjoy the Rocky Mountains, come join us on a retreat at the Shambala Center in Colorado. Are you a Plein Air painter who wants to spend your vacation painting but your partner likes to hike, raft and explore? This is the retreat you can both enjoy together.

We’ll have two tracts

“Yoga Mountain Adventurer’ tract

“Mountain Artist” tract

We’ve secured a reservation at Shambhala Mountain Retreat Center in Colorado. www.shambhalamountain.org  Shambhala is a Buddhist retreat center at approx 7500 feet in the Rocky Mountains, The 600 acre property is a beautiful valley in the high Rocky Mountains with plenty of adventures and hiking on site and it’s surrounded by National Forest! If you’ve ever been on a retreat with us you know that the centers we go to are all amazing, beautiful and unique.

“Mountain Adventurers” will enjoy Yoga, meditation and hiking. Horseback riding and rafting will be available and of course everything is optional. There is even Disc golf nearby which I have no idea what that is. We’ll work out a daily schedule of group activities that you can participate in or just take some time for yourself, relax, enjoy the land and views, take lots of walks. We’ll have some cross over time if any adventurers want to explore the creative process with the “artists”. Blaire, Ed (you haven’t met yet) and I will be hosting the activities in this tract

The Artist Tract will have two blocks of the day, mornings and afternoons reserved for the creative process. Meditation and Yoga will also be available. We will have presentation and discussion times each day. We have mostly painters so far but want to open it up to writers and possibly musicians that want to explore their creative process. Absorption in the moment and being totally present is a basic Buddhist practice and our theme will reflect this. Our goal will be to free up your creativity by bringing you deeper into an absorbed state of mind where you can let go of the intellectual editing to allow for a spontaneous moment to moment improvisation to take place. Hannah Shook (my favorite painter and wonderful teacher!) and someone who truly exemplifies this in her own creative process and myself will host these activities.  www.HannahShook.com

We had a wonderful time making a road trip out of our visit to Colorado this past summer and urge you to consider this mode of transportation to see some great sites; Rocky Mt. National Park, Colorado National Monument, Bryce Canyon, Zion National Park to name just a few! We will organize car-pooling and/or caravanning for those interested. We will have a shuttle solution if you are short on time or would rather fly in and out of Denver.

I’m so excited! Hannah is such a special painter and teacher and the Rocky Mts. are soooo beautiful it will be such a great time to be together on retreat with you!

Namaste,

Linda
